Telegram may have tools for storing and trading cryptocurrency.
In Telegram, in the future, several decentralized tools for cryptocurrency trading and storage may appear, said the founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov.
“The next step for Telegram will be the creation of a number of decentralized tools, including non-custodial wallets and decentralized exchanges, so that millions of people can safely trade and store cryptocurrency,” Durov said, commenting on the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange.
Durov believes that blockchain projects should return to their roots – decentralization. Thus, it will be possible to correct the mistakes of excessive centralization, which failed hundreds of thousands of cryptocurrency users.
“We developers need to move the blockchain industry away from centralization by building fast and easy-to-use decentralized applications for the masses. Today, such projects are finally feasible, ”Durov’s message says.
According to the founder of the messenger, the days when the inefficiency of outdated platforms justified centralization are long gone. Now the blockchain industry will be able to fulfill its main mission – to return power to the people.
According to him, in just five weeks, the team’s developers created Fragment, a fully decentralized auction platform based on The Open Network (TON) blockchain. The platform has been an incredible success, selling $50 million worth of usernames in less than a month.
At the end of October, the messenger launched an auction of short names similar to domain names. The minimum starting price for a 4-letter lot was 10,000 TON Toncoin tokens, however, the price for some lots reached record highs, for example, 63,000 Toncoin for the @bank descriptor.
In November, Telegram users got the opportunity to buy and sell short nicknames through the platform. Users can trade nicknames not only for personal accounts, but also for publics and groups. Ownership of nicknames is stored in the TON registry.
