The founder of the collapsed crypto exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, is accused of eight criminal offenses, for which a businessman could face 165 years in prison. Information about this appeared on the website of the Court of the Southern District of New York.

Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested on December 12, 2022 in the Bahamas. The businessman is charged with criminal conspiracy to defraud, embezzlement of FTX user funds, misuse of company assets and money laundering.

Bankman-Fried leaves the courthouse in handcuffs:

According to media reports, Bankman-Fried was denied bail due to the risk of absconding. Previously, the businessman was taken into custody until February 2023. The FTX founder will remain in Fox Hill Prison until he is extradited to the US. Business Insider writes about numerous complaints about the conditions of detention in a correctional facility.

Also, regulators had questions about money transfers that Bankman-Fried made to a number of political organizations. Earlier, members of the crypto community suggested that the businessman managed to stay at large for a long period of time precisely because of his friendship with politicians.
