Blockchain project Polkadot launched Anti-Scam Bounty program to improve the security of its ecosystem.

As part of the new program, Polkadot will pay users cash rewards for helping fight fraud.

Users are required to find scam sites, fake social media profiles and phishing apps that masquerade as Polkadot. They also need to protect the Discord servers from hacker attacks. The tasks inсlude creating training materials for users, as well as developing a special Anti-Scam toolbar to protect against fraud in the company’s ecosystem.

“Decentralizing anti-fraud efforts and moving them online is not an easy task, mainly because most of the fight against fraud takes place on Web2,” Polkadot said in a statement.

Each task is overseen by members of the Polkadot community. They will interact with the implementers and propose their own initiatives to achieve results more effectively. For help in the fight against fraud, users will receive rewards in USD Coin (USDC). The program is now led by three curators from the Polkadot community and two staff members from the Web3 Foundation.

“The threat to the development of the Polkadot brand is real, but we are concerned about more than that. We don’t want Polkadot to be a free ecosystem. We want it to be a secure ecosystem where users don’t have to constantly worry about falling for the bait and scammers should think twice before casting their nets,” Polkadot said.

In conclusion, Polkadot turned to the scammers, promising that they would have a hard time in the ecosystem.

“So pack your things and go. Or better yet, find a job and stop stealing from people!” the authors of the release concluded.

Meanwhile, the attackers made the crypto market $3 billion poorer in just the first half of the year. DeFi products have been the main victim as they often launch without security audits. Therefore, attackers easily find vulnerabilities in security systems and steal money. Fraudsters are now more likely to use schemes that focus on exploiting bugs in protocols and vulnerabilities in project smart contracts.
