Hi all!

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym of the author who published the Bitcoin whitepaper in 2008. This white paper is called “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Money systеm” (available at Bitcoin.org). Satoshi did not invent the blockchain itself, but created the first decentralized currency based on it. Although Bitcoin was officially launched in 2009, the name of the mysterious developer was mentioned in emails and forum posts long before that.

However, in 2011 all messages stopped and Satoshi disappeared. Since then, this mysterious person has been the subject of heated debate and accusations. And yet – who is Satoshi Nakamoto? One person or a group of people? Who is behind perhaps the most significant technology of the 21st century?

There is no single answer, one is a person or a group of people. Most believe that Satoshi worked alone, some suggest that an entire development team is hiding behind the pseudonym.

Prior to his disappearance in April 2011, Satoshi claimed to be Japanese, born April 5, 1975. However, he spoke English so well that many consider him a resident of one of the English-speaking countries. Moreover, he most often communicated within the framework of European working hours, therefore, according to one version, the mysterious developer did not live in Japan. After Satoshi Nakamoto stopped communicating, interest in his personality grew even more and gave rise to many theories, but only a few of them may turn out to be true.

There are several names that, in one way or another, by their line of work are contenders for the name Satoshi Nikamoto. But they do not have solid evidence, but remain only speculation – these are Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, Dorian Nikamoto.

Whoever Satoshi Nikamoto is, this person (or circle of people) is clearly very wealthy. He may be alive or dead, but without hard evidence, we will never know the truth.

One thing is clear: Satoshi still owns the bitcoins as their public keys date back to the zero block he generated.

Experts traced the location of his bitcoins and helped determine the state. Since the beginning of 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto has not spent a single Satoshi. There is no exact estimate of his assets, but there is reason to believe that he owns about 1 million bitcoins (about $20 billion at today’s exchange rate).
