Good day everyone!

In the history of cryptocurrency, there were also ridiculous cases – no luck, so unlucky, as they say …

The Briton has been looking for his $162 million bitcoin hard drive for 9 years.

The unfortunate Briton in 2013 threw his hard drive, which contained about 8,000 bitcoins, into the landfill in Newport (Wales). He started mining Bitcoin when the cryptocurrency was still in its infancy, and later decided to just throw away the drive because it was of little value, not realizing that he had not backed up vital files. The name of this poor fellow is James Howells and if he could sell them right now, he would get about $ 162 million in his hands. Naturally, the rate floats, so the amount may fluctuate, but, in any case, this is a lot of money.

Almost immediately after he realized that he had lost a lot of money, he began trying to get it back, because with a high degree of probability, the information on the disk can be recovered. Over time, bitcoin began to grow, and this, in turn, fueled interest in finding the coveted hard drive. Much to James’ regret, the hard drive has not yet been found, but now he has a serious plan.

The amount that James is going to spend on the search for “treasure” is 11 million dollars. First, he decided to purchase a pair of Spot robotic dogs from Boston Dynamics that would scan the landfill. While one is searching, the other will be charging. He even came up with the names Satoshi and Hal, in honor of the creator of the cryptocurrency and the person who made the first transaction.

Since 2013, the city council has consistently denied Howell access to the landfill, the council sees nothing to change their minds. What James proposes, namely the excavation of the landfill, carries a great environmental risk, which is unacceptable to the inhabitants of the city.

Since then, he has become something of a media darling, with new details about his story appearing regularly in the British press, especially during bull market periods when BTC prices start to rise.
