BitKeep, the non-custodial wallet of the Bitget crypto exchange, has been hacked.

Several users of Bitget’s Web3 BitKeep multi-chain wallet have claimed on the official community that their funds have been stolen.

BitKeep conducted a preliminary investigation and found that the attackers had taken control of some APK packages and embedded malicious code.

“If your funds are stolen, the app you are downloading or updating may be of an unknown version. Now, for the safety of user funds, if you have downloaded the APK version, please transfer funds to a wallet downloaded from another official store (App Store or Google Play),” BitKeep said in a message.

According to Beosin_com, users have now lost more than $3 million on BNBChain alone. At the same time, the hacker’s wallet address now contains 2,896,386 USDT, 166,010 DAI and 2,310 BNB, mostly concentrated in BNBChain. The hackers mixed the coins via SideShift and FixedFloat and have already transferred 652 BNB and 70,000 DAI.

BitKeep has been hacked for the second time this quarter. The previous incident took place in October when a hacker stole $1 million from BitKeep’s cryptocurrency wallet by hacking it through the swap feature. The hack took place on the BNB Chain network. As a result, the team stopped the BitKeep swap service to prevent new exploits. The company also promised to refund lost money to users, but did not disclose details.

In total, since the beginning of the year, hackers have stolen $3.37 billion worth of cryptocurrencies. Most of the hacks occurred in the fall, with a total of $1.3 billion worth of digital assets stolen by attackers.
